Covid-19: 57 fatalities bring death toll to 5,001

       PUTRAJAYA: The Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia reached 5,001 after 57 more fatalities were reported on Monday (June 28).

       In his daily Covid-19 press updates, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham (pic) said 15 of the deaths were in Selangor.

       The rest of the fatalities were recorded in Negri Sembilan (13 cases), Johor (six), Melaka (five), Kuala Lumpur (three), Labuan (three), Perak (three), Sarawak (two), Kedah (two), Pahang (two), Kelantan (two) and Penang (one).

       The youngest casualty reported on Monday was a 33-year-old woman at Hospital Labuan who had obesity issues.

       Four cases - involving four Malaysian men in Johor Baru, Temerloh, Seremban and Labuan - have been classified as “brought-in-dead”.

       At present, 899 patients are being treated at intensive care units (ICU), with 451 on ventilator support.

       The current total number of active Covid-19 cases has gone up to 61,812.

       On Monday, Malaysia recorded 5,218 new coronavirus infections and 4,744 recoveries.
