PUTRAJAYA: Describing his Cabinet as “result-oriented”, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has given ministries 100 days to prove their early achievements.
He pledged that he would ensure the Cabinet would be one that prioritises a high-performance work culture and that ministries are to come up with short- and long-term plans that must be achieved.
In facing today’s challenges, this Cabinet is to work based on three principles – being aware of current needs, being responsible and honest, and to regain the people’s confidence, he added.

“The Cabinet that is formed today is a management team that will work for the people. They are to react fast to free Malaysia from the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic, and from the economic crisis and political turmoil.
“I will ensure my ministers are committed towards the national agenda through cross-party cooperation to drive economic recovery for the well-being of the people,” he said when unveiling his Cabinet line-up yesterday.
Ismail Sabri announced his list of ministers – 31 of them along with 38 deputies – six days after he took office on Aug 21.
The Prime Minister said the formation of the Cabinet is a formula based on the “current situation, to ensure stability and place importance on the safety of the Malaysian Family above everything else”.
He said his Cabinet is a combination of those who are experienced, who can help in recovery efforts by supporting entrepreneurs, ease the process of doing business, can rejuvenate economic activities, and can boost investor confidence.
“The Cabinet will take on a new approach which is more open and will embrace the Malaysian Family aspiration by delivering services and information in a more efficient manner,” he assured the people.
Ismail Sabri admitted the country was badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic because of the economic slowdown, adding that the situation was made worse by political instability.
He said the pandemic had affected the country’s economic growth, and the economy has to recover as soon as possible.
“Therefore, it is important for the Cabinet and ministries to be proactive and committed as they shoulder their responsibility in serving and helping the people.
“I hope the appointment of the Cabinet members will spark new confidence for the country to rise and unite in fighting Covid-19 and to free the Malaysian Family from the misery that has been brought about by the pandemic,” he added.
The Prime Minister also said the government will boost the National Health Malaysia agenda to educate the public on how to live with the coronavirus, control the risks and practise new norms in their daily lives.
