       When it comes to being environmentally friendly, Prince William is following in the footsteps of his father King Charles.

       The Prince of Wales previously expressed his appreciation of nature during a trip to Dartmoor, and he reportedly spent ￡6,000 on an item that will enable the Royal Family to be more environmentally friendly.

       According to reports, the Prince bought himself an electric scooter that could have cost up to ￡6,000.

       The future King intends to use the scooter to go quickly between Adelaide Cottage, the home he shares with Princess Kate, and King Charles's apartment inside Windsor Castle.

       Although Adelaide Cottage is located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, the family typically travels by car for the two or three miles it takes to get to the actual castle, so William's new toy is an environmentally friendly decision.

       Electric scooters have a top speed of 10 km/h, and although they are prohibited on public roads, they are permitted on private property like the castle, making them the perfect vehicle for William to zip around Windsor.

       Kate and William moved their family of five into Adelaide Cottage last summer after spending the majority of their time at Kensington Palace in London.

       The Prince of Wales has received praise from royal watchers for carrying on his father's dedication to protecting the environment.

       Especially given that he took over managing the Duchy of Cornwall from his father, who invested his time and energy into preserving the estate.

       Prince William is not the only member of the Royal Family to use vehicles that are environmentally friendly.

       Instead of petrol, the King's Aston Martin, which he has owned for more than 50 years, is powered by leftover English white wine and cheesemaking whey.

       Talking about his car in 2021, King Charles said: "My old Aston Martin, which I had for 51 years, that I managed to convert, that now runs on waste products.

       "Can you believe this; it runs on surplus English white wine and whey from the cheese processes. I did that quite a long time ago."
