PETALING JAYA: Counter services for all Road Transport Department (JPJ) branches nationwide resumed operations on Monday (Sept 6).

       Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was at the Wangsa Maju JPJ to observe the reopening.

       "I am satisfied with the strict compliance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) here in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 and at the same time continue its services to the public," he said.

       He said he interacted with the public during this visit and received numerous suggestions.

       "Among those were to increase the JPJ mobile counters as it is seen to be much easier for the public to conduct their business via drive-through," he said, adding that this would also allow those who had not been fully vaccinated to utilise JPJ services.

       Dr Wee noted that the Wangsa Maju JPJ was one of the busiest branches with around 1,200 customers a day when the counters were open through online appointments.

       He added that the number increased to more than 2,000 people after it was open for walk-ins.

       Dr Wee also said that the public could also conduct their business with the JPJ through online portals such as MySikap JPJ, MyEG, Puspakom and Pos Malaysia.

       Group counters, he also said, were provided to facilitate those who deal with huge numbers of transactions from private companies.

       "Priority is also given to senior citizens and the disabled at JPJ counters," he said on his Facebook page on Monday.

       Dr Wee was accompanied by Kuala Lumpur JPJ director Mohd Zaki Ismail and the JPJ Kuala Lumpur enforcement chief Ahmad Kamarunzaman Mehat.
