KUALA LUMPUR: A Magistrate’s Court here has issued a court order prohibiting any procession or gathering within 1km of the Sogo Complex and Masjid Jamek today.

City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the court order was obtained yesterday.

“We want those planning to hold or take part in gatherings or processions to know that they are prohibited.

“We urge the community here to comply with the standard operating procedure under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan,” Comm Azmi said.

He added that as of yesterday, there were 1,676 new Covid-19 cases in Kuala Lumpur, and an infectivity rate or Rt value of 0.95.

“We have received information that certain groups were constantly taking the opportunity to hold public assemblies and processions which are in violation of the SOP,” Comm Azmi said in a statement yesterday.

He said these groups also claimed to have applied to hold such gatherings under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

“We hope the community understands the health safety factor in that the risk of infection can multiply at an extraordinary rate if the public does not comply with the SOP,” he said.

Those with any information should contact the police at 03-2146 0584 or 03-2146 0585.
