PETALING JAYA: A former Armed Forces captain who went by the moniker ''Dr Ganja'' has been ordered to enter his defence by the High Court in Shah Alam.

       It ruled that the prosecution had made a prima facie case on all 39 drug-related offences against him, including possession and distribution.

       Utusan Malaysia reported that Amiruddin @ Nadarajan Abdullah, 63, was ordered to enter his defence by Judicial Commisioner Julia Ibrahim on Friday (Jan 28).

       In her judgment, Julia said the decision was made after examining the evidence and arguments from both sides.

       “The court found and ruled that the prosecution has succeeded in proving a prima facie case against the accused based on direct and indirect evidence without relying on any presumptions.

       “Hence, the accused has been ordered to enter his defence based on those charges,” she said.

       The daily said the court set April 7, 8, 13 and 18 for the defence proceedings.

       Amiruddin is facing 16 drug-related charges under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for distributing 77.84kg of marijuana.

       He is also facing two additional charges under Section 39A(1) of the same Act for the possession of 89.77g of marijuana.

       Under Section 6 of the same Act, he is charged with possessing 5.38g of marijuana.

       He is also charged under Section 6B(1)(a) of the Act for possessing 18 marijuana plants and faces charges under Section 39A(2) for possessing 181.66g of marijuana.

       For the offences of putting drugs in his body, it was reported that he is being charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Act.

       He is accused of committing the offences at or near a house in Kampung Delek Dalam, Klang at around 12.30pm on May 26, 2017.
