PUTRAJAYA: The report of the inquiry into the Hospital Sultanah Aminah fire can be published if there are no more claims being made in court over the incident, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
“If there are no more court claims, we can publish the report,” he said Thursday (Feb 17), responding to a question during his weekly press conference.
The Health Minister was asked if the report on the fire incident would be published after the High Court recently dismissed three negligence lawsuits over the incident in 2016.
It was reported that Judicial Commissioner Aslam Zainuddin granted the senior federal counsels’s application to strike out claims by the parents of three patients - Logeswaran Krishnasamy, Choo Lin Fong and Kaliama Muniandy - killed in the fire on grounds that there were “time barred”.
Section 2(a) of the Public Authorities Protection Act imposes a three-year statute of limitations on lawsuits or prosecutions of individuals executing public duties.
