PUTRAJAYA: Graft investigators have summoned Mara Corporation Berhad's management team after they found that several instances of “suspicious spending” were made using the company’s corporate credit card.
Sources said several members of the management team will be called in to explain the guidelines of using Mara Corp corporate credit cards on Tuesday (Feb 15).
“Investigators have found that there were purchases of items and payments for services that did not involve the agency," said a source on Tuesday.
So they are calling up the management to explain why these expenses were allowed and if there are guidelines on the usage of corporate credit cards,” the source added.
However, it is not known whether the officials are already present at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here.
Investigators had been working on the case of Mara Corp since a report was lodged last week after internal administrative documents were leaked.
It was reported that the letter was said to have been written at the request of Majlis Amanah Rakyat chairman Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun for an integrity enquiry into officers who had been “loaned” to Mara Corp in a cross-fertilisation programme.
Mara Corp is an investment holding company of Mara.
Dozens of officials had been questioned, including the five individuals implicated in the case.
Earlier, the five had filed police reports on Feb 6, denying any wrongdoings.
They claimed the complaints against them were a distraction from a board member’s wrongdoings.
