KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled an online investment scam call centre following two raids along Jalan Ampang.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said they raided two premises there at around 8.30pm on Sunday (Jan 9).

"Investigations revealed the syndicate would offer bogus investment schemes to victims from foreign countries.

"We arrested two local women, seven foreign men and three foreign women aged between 23 and 38 years old," he said in a statement Monday (Jan 10).

He said police also seized 32 mobile phones, four laptops, a modem, one central processing unit and monitor and other computer equipment.

"We have remanded the suspects for three days to help with investigations.

"The case has been classified as cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code," he said, adding that the investigations would be completed and referred to the deputy public prosecutors office for further action.

He warned the public against getting involved in such activities.

"We will not hesitate to take stern action against anyone caught breaking the law.

"Those with information on criminal activities can contact the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-2600 2222 or the City police hotline at 03-2115 9999," he said.
