KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed by a crocodile on Thursday (May 19) as he was crossing a river in Kinabatangan.
Authorities only managed to find the upper body of the deceased, Abdul Kadir, and handed the remains over to the police.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department, a distress call was received at 2.24pm alerting them of the incident at Ladang Lamag Sungai Pin Kinabatangan.
Witnesses claimed the victim was dragged underwater by the crocodile when he was crossing the river on a wooden bridge where the water level had risen.
A search and rescue operation was mounted and the operation ended at 5.10pm after his remains were found.
