Two men and a woman were shot when the car they were in ended up between people shooting at each other from two vehicles in the East Garfield Park neighborhood late Thursday, police said.
The three were in the 2900 block of West Van Buren Street about 10 p.m. when they were attacked, police said in a media notification.
The woman, 27, was shot several times, as was one of the men, age 38, and they were both initially in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to police. A 27-year-old man who was in the vehicle with them was shot in the leg and was in good condition at the same hospital.
One of the two men told police that the three were driving north on California Boulevard and trying to turn onto Van Buren when they were caught between the two other vehicles and were shot.
