GREGGS customers are being terrorised by crows dive-bombing them to nick their sausage rolls.

The raven-ous birds perch above a branch and target men, women and children for the pork-based treats.

One woman nearly had her face scratched when a crow tore bacon from her sarnie — and a boy was in tears when others swooped in.

Local Ricky Craig Pound posted on Facebook about the bird attacks in Twickenham, South West London: “A word of warning to anybody who eats food whilst on the go — on four occasions recently I have been attacked by crows trying to get my food.

“This is particularly prevalent in Church Street and near Greggs.

“I have heard this is becoming a real problem in the last months. If it happened to a child, it would really scare them.”

Crows are natural scavengers, adapting their diets to what is on offer.

They are also very intelligent, with the ability to remember faces — such as loyal Greggs customers.

Phone shop worker Paras Singh, 23, told The Sun: “It’s happening every day.

“If someone drops a crumb or they see someone eating, they all swoop down in a frenzy. It’s a hard problem to fix but something needs to be done before someone is seriously hurt.”

Barber Jay Baiz, 27, added: “On Thursday, a woman was eating a bacon sandwich. The crow tried to rip it out and nearly scratched her head.

“Two weeks ago, a little kid was with his dad when all the crows surrounded him. He was quite upset.”

The birds are believed to have a taste for up-market patisseries too — with one customer of a nearby Gail’s bakery branch attacked for their cinnamon bun.

Locals are calling on Richmond Council to hire a falconer to scare the crows away.

Greggs and the council were approached for comment.
