KUALA PILAH: A pair of lovers pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here to a charge of stealing a gold bangle from a jewellery store, here.
Muhammad Efendi Sanusi Gunarto, 24 and Nur Sabrina Khairul, 22 confessed to the crime after the charge was read to them before judge Norma Ismail.
They were jointly charged with stealing the 36.76g gold bangle from Kedai Emas Pilah here around 3.45pm on April 8.
The duo were charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same legislation which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine upon conviction.
However, Norma said she would deliver the judgment on April 25.
She allowed the accused to be released on a RM6,000 bail each with one surety.
However, both Muhammad Efendi and Nur Sabrina were unable to come up with the bail money.
Nik Nur Aqilah Syarfa Nik Zaidi prosecuted while the duo were unrepresented.
Police launched a manhunt for the couple after the woman ran away with the bangle worth some RM10,000 from the shop.
She escaped with the male suspect on a motorcycle, which did not have registration plates.
Police arrested the suspects in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur around 11pm on April 14.
