GEORGE TOWN: Sanitising spray guns are widely sold in hardware and electrical shops around the country.

       One hardware and electrical shopkeeper, Lee Seong Moh, said he advises buyers to only use these to spray on surfaces.

       “Avoid using the sanitiser on people. It can be used on tables and chairs at a restaurant after the customer has left. We understand that it makes people feel safer but one must use the right sanitiser so as not to damage anything in the process,” he said.

       In Ipoh, a self-service launderette has installed an “automatic sanitising machine” costing RM11,000.

       The proprietor, Pot Khoo, 57, said with 100 customers using the laundrette daily, the machine was a necessary item for the safety of his workers and customers.

       “The machine comes with a sensor that is able to take a person’s temperature. The customer has to scan the MySejahtera QR code and step into the cubicle to be sprayed with the liquid sanitiser. We purchased this machine a few months ago and have received good feedback from our customers,” he said.

       S. Raju, 25, who works at the convenience store, said the machine made some customers feel protected.

       “Some even push their trolleys of laundry into the machine to sanitise them,” he said.
