Police in Prince George’s County said a woman was fatally shot early Thursday morning by her fiance, who then barricaded himself in a home before he was taken into custody in the Upper Marlboro area.

Police said on Twitter that the woman — who was later identified as Dina Taylor, 39, of Upper Marlboro — was found on the road and pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said her fiance, Dionte Sims, 28, of Upper Marlboro, barricaded himself inside his home for several hours before he was taken into policy custody. An initial investigation found Sims shot her during an argument.

Police said Sims also shot at an officer who responded to the incident. Sims is charged with first- and second-degree murder, plus other charges. He’s being held on no bond in jail, officials said.
