PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has congratulated Datuk Azizulhasni Awang for winning the silver medal in the men’s keirin final at the Tokyo Olympics.
“Congratulations Datuk Azizulhasni Awang,” said the message posted on the Transport Minister’s Facebook page yesterday.
“It is a silver medal for Malaysia.
“You have done your best for the country.”
Dr Wee, who is MCA president, also congratulated and thanked cyclist Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom and the entire Malaysian contingent for their success at the Games.
Shah Firdaus was eliminated after placing last in Heat 2 of the quarter-finals.
Azizul bagged the silver medal after he overtook Dutch world champion Harrie Lavreysen in a closely contested race for second place.
The gold went to Britain’s Sir Jason Kenny.
Azizul was the bronze winner in the same event in Rio 2016.
