HAVANA, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Cuba registered 676 COVID-19 infections and one death from the disease in the last day, bringing the totals to 1,094,352 cases and 8,517 deaths, the Ministry of Public Health said Wednesday.
In its daily report, the ministry noted there were currently 2,993 active cases, with new infections in all 15 provinces and the Special Municipality of Isla de la Juventud.
The province of Camaguey had the highest number of new cases in the last 24 hours with 99, followed by Ciego de Avila with 96, and Mayabeque with 81.
Cuban authorities relaxed health measures for travelers arriving in the island beginning on Wednesday, eliminating the need to present a vaccination certificate and a PCR test due to the high immunization rate against COVID-19 in the country.
To date, 9.9 million of Cuba's 11.2 million residents have been fully inoculated, while over 6.3 million have received a booster dose.
