PUTRAJAYA: Another 311 more people died from Covid-19 in Malaysia on Tuesday (Sept 7), says the Health Ministry.
This takes the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 18,802, which is 1% out of all cases.
In his daily Covid-19 statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 270 of the deceased were Malaysians and 41 were foreign nationals.
Selangor has the most number of deaths (55 cases), followed by Johor (53), Sabah (45), and Kedah (43).
Labuan, which has 95.4% fully vaccinated adults, saw zero death cases on Tuesday.
Sarawak, which has fully vaccinated 87% adults in its state, reported five deaths while Negri Sembilan (which has 83% fully vaccinated adults) reported three deaths.
There were also 93 death cases classified as “brought-in-dead” (BID), of which 68 involved Malaysians and 25 were foreigners.
Johor has the highest number of BID cases (44), followed by Sabah (34) and Kedah (21).
Covid-19 recoveries had once again outnumbered new cases for the seventh consecutive day.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were 18,547 new cases and 18,902 recoveries in the same 24-hour span up to noon Tuesday.
There are now 252,002 active Covid-19 cases nationwide.
Of that, 977 are in intensive care units (ICU) while 447 who are on ventilator support.
