KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has delivered food aid and necessities to fire victims in Cheras flats.
In a Facebook post Monday (Dec 20), DBKL said that the fire that broke out on the top floors of Sri Johor Flats on Sunday (Dec 19) destroyed eight units and left 34 people homeless.
"Some of the victims are seeking shelter at the flat’s community hall, which was being used as a temporary relocation centre, while others opted to stay with relatives," DBKL said in its post.
According to the local authority, various parties including NGOs, the Federal Territories Foundation, Welfare Department, Civil Defence Malaysia and community leaders, had provided assistance such as basic necessities like toiletries, dry food, pillows, blankets and clothes to the victims.
All fire victims had undergone health screenings, including Covid-19 tests, where all were tested negative.
