SUBANG JAYA: A jobless man was detained for posing as a policeman and attempting to rob a victim at PJS 9 Bandar Sunway on Sunday (Oct 24).
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abd Khalid Othman said the 49-year-old suspect was riding a motorcycle when he stopped in a housing area at about 2pm on Sunday.
He said that the man then identified himself as a policeman to the victim, and then said that the man tried to perform an “inspection”.
"In the midst of the inspection, the victim managed to flee but the suspect gave chase using his motorcycle. The suspect managed to hit the victim but the impact of the collision sent him plunging down a nearby drain while the victim fell on the road," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Oct 26).
ACP Abd Khalid said policemen on patrol in the area managed to apprehend the suspect.
"We seized the motorcycle, which used fake vehicle registration numbers and a card which had the police logo on it. The suspect has eight previous records for criminal and drug related offences," he added.
The suspect has been remanded until Thursday (Oct 28) to facilitate investigations, he said.
