       KUWAIT CITY, March 21: The number of individuals whose nationality was withdrawn from March 4 till date (within two weeks) totaled 211, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source. The source revealed that the forged and dual nationalities files are currently on the table of the Supreme Committee for Citizenship and are subject to scrutiny in preparation for withdrawal after verifying suspicions.

       The source explained that the withdrawal files are divided into these categories: counterfeit, fraud, deception in obtaining citizenship, dual nationalities, and non-Kuwaiti women who married Kuwaitis to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship and divorced immediately after their naturalization; that is, through the husband agreeing with the wife to divorce even before their marriage. He said those with dual nationalities can either give up or retain their Kuwaiti citizenship

       The source added the Ministry of Interior received 407 reports about cases of fraud and dual nationalities after opening the hotline for receiving such reports, and they are currently being carefully studied and investigated to confirm suspicions before submitting them to the Supreme Committee for Citizenship for the necessary action. The source pointed out that the citizenship withdrawal decisions are based on relevant decrees and the decision of the Supreme Committee for Citizenship, indicating that such decisions will be issued successively.
