KOTA KINABALU: A teenager was caught with close to 100g of syabu near an apartment in Penampang near here.
Police arrested the 19-year-old suspected drug dealer on the roadside near the Country Heights Apartments and found in his possession over 99g of the substance on Tuesday.
Penampang police chief Supt Sammy Newton said the drugs were kept in a plastic bag the suspect was carrying.
“Following further checks, we found two small transparent packets containing white substance which we believe to be methamphetamine, weighing 99.34gm and valued at RM19,860,” he said in a statement yesterday.
“The suspect also tested positive for drugs,” he added.
Supt Sammy said the suspect has been remanded for seven days from Jan 3 under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death sentence upon conviction.
He said the suspect is also investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act, which provides for a maximum RM5,000 fine or up two years in jail.
