PORT DICKSON: Pakatan Harapan has yet to decide on accepting three of the four assemblymen who withdrew their support for former Melaka chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
This decision to withdraw support led to the collapse of the state government.
Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he would discuss the matter with Melaka Pakatan and then take it to the top leadership for a final decision on whether the trio could contest under its ticket for the Nov 20 state polls.
“I am aware of the comments on social media likening what they did to the Sheraton Move which caused the collapse of the Federal Government.
“I actually disagree with that because what they did was to give the people’s mandate back to Pakatan,” he said after distributing Deepavali goodies in Kg India, Bukit Pelandok, near here.
On Oct 4, Sungai Udang assemblyman Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Pantai Kundor assemblyman Datuk Nor Azman Hassan (both from Umno), Telok Mas assemblyman Noor Effandi Ahmad from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and Independent lawmaker Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee declared that they had lost confidence in Sulaiman’s leadership. This led to the dissolution of the state assembly.
Anwar said Pakatan would only decide on Idris, Nor Azman and Noor Effandi as Norhizam had been sacked by DAP.
DAP had earlier stated that it would not accept Norhizam back into the party.
Anwar said the three had already expected to be sacked by their parties for withdrawing support for the previous state government.
Despite the comments made against them, he said “we can’t just push them away”.
