SENAI: As unofficial results of the Johor state election unfold, DAP has conceded defeat in four seats - Yong Peng, Paloh, Bekok and Pekan Nanas.

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said unofficial results showed that the party had lost in the four seats.

"From the latest results, we will keep 10 and lose four. It is a great loss in Paloh, Bekok, Yong Peng and Pekan Nanas."

Lim claimed that if there is another extra week of campaigning, DAP would have retained the four seats.

Lim blamed the defeat of the four seats to "fake propaganda" of Pakatan's 22-month administration of Putrajaya.

"Another week would have made all the difference and I think we must realise that this is our country and we want the best for our country," said Lim in a joint press conference with former deputy defence minister Liew Chin Tong, party youth chief Howard Lee and Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi.

Liew said the defeat was badly felt by DAP, as Alan Tee had volunteered to contest in Yong Peng instead of defending the Senai seat, which Tee won in 2018.

"Tee should be a role model to all DAP leaders, as he willingly left a safe seat to contest in a dangerous seat like Yong Peng," added Liew.

Official results from the Election Commission showed that Barisan Nasional won in Yong Peng and Johor Lama.

Unofficial results, meanwhile, showed that MCA won in Bekok, Paloh and Pekan Nanas.
