PETALING JAYA: Defence Ministry has been allocated RM16bil in the 2022 Budget.

Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said RM1.6bil will be allocated to upgrade the readiness of the Malaysian Armed Forces' main assets.

The allocation also involves RM14mil to replace the main equipment of the Naval Special Forces (Paskal) and the Air Force Special Forces (Paskau) such as parachutes, closed-circuit diving equipment and boats.

Tengku Zafrul was tabling the 2022 Budget in Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 29).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob earlier had said the Budget was drawn up to benefit all quarters in line with the Malaysian Family concept which assures that no one will be left out in the country’s recovery agenda after experiencing difficulties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
