PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet has not agreed to the tabling of the proposed anti-hopping Bill at the special Dewan Rakyat sitting on Monday (April 11).

The Bill will be sent back for more study to be done on the definition of "party-hopping”.

With that, the Bill will not be tabled at the special sitting.

"Yes it has been deferred," said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (pic) on Wednesday (April 6).

He added, however, that the special Dewan Rakyat sitting will go ahead with the tabling of a constitutional amendment to facilitate the anti-hopping Bill later.

The constitutional amendments will require a two-thirds majority in the House.

Today's decision means the Bill will be deferred for a second time.

It had first been scheduled to be tabled for first reading on March 24, the final day of the last Dewan Rakyat meeting.
