IPOH: A 35-year-old man was arrested for damaging items at a Chinese temple at Kampung Koh in Manjung.

       Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the man was arrested on Saturday at about 9.30pm.

       He said the suspect would be brought to the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court for a remand order.

       “On Saturday at about 1.30pm, police received a viral video showing a man who had damaged items at a temple, and action was taken to trace the suspect.

       “We also seized the man's mobile phone, which is believed to have been used to record the video,” he said in a statement issued here on Sunday (April 7).

       ACP Mohamed Nordin said the case is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code for desecrating a place of worship and Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communications Act 1988.

       He advised the public not to issue any statements in regards to race, religion and royalty (3R).
