KUWAIT CITY, July 16: The Ministry of Finance has issued a directive to all ministries, calling for a comprehensive inventory of unused lands, buildings, and rented sites owned by government agencies. In a letter obtained by Al-Anba, the Ministry emphasized the Council of Ministers’ mandate to optimize government resources by reclaiming underutilized assets for productive use.

According to the directive, Cabinet Resolution No. 556, adopted during meeting No. 18-2023/2 on June 5, 2023, tasks the Ministry of Finance with coordinating efforts across government entities to identify and take legal measures to reclaim dormant properties. The goal is to ensure these resources are effectively utilized, with agencies instructed to provide detailed reports on unused properties within two months.

The initiative aims to streamline government operations and financial management by assessing all unused lands and buildings, while also documenting rented facilities and their associated annual costs. The Ministry of Finance has been instructed to compile this information promptly and submit a comprehensive report to the Council of Ministers, as per the recent resolution.

This coordinated effort underscores the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and optimize public assets across Kuwait’s administrative landscape.
