       KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Direct flights resumed between Kuwait and Egypt after a gap of one and half years. Egyptian expats began to return back to Kuwait. 5 flights of Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways and Egyptian airlines on seat sharing basis are operating currently. Vaccinated expats with approved vaccines in Kuwait and those carrying PCR negative certificates were allowed to board the flight.

       Number of arriving passengers confirmed that the procedures at the airport went smoothly and did not encounter obstacles. Many of the travelers had received Johnson and Johnson dose and were subjected to home quarantine for a week. First flight from Sohag landed at T1 terminal of Kuwait International Airport via Fly Egypt.

       Meanwhile, the concerned officials informed the daily that the prices of tickets for direct flights between Kuwait, Egypt and India have increased remarkably; up to the point that citizens and expatriates can no longer afford these tickets. They stressed the need to increase the operational capacity of Kuwait International Airport, which should be prioritized in the next Cabinet meeting. They warned that postponing such a step might hinder the return of citizens, unless they are counted outside the approved operating capacity. They pointed out this will also add to the burdens of citizens; considering the return to school expenses, weekly Corona swab test for students and resumption of the collection of loan payments.

       On the other hand, oil sector sources said that the committee tasked to assess various types of subsidies will finalize its decision on Sept 27 as it needs more time to review the current prices of premium and special gasoline. Sources said the current price list is valid until Sept 30, indicating there is no plan to release a new price list for gasoline or link it with oil prices at the moment, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
