Labour snubbed Musk because it dislikes free speech, claims Farage

Labour snubbed Elon Musk from its International Investment Summit because it dislikes free speech, Nigel Farage has claimed.

In a video posted to X, the social media platform owned by Mr Musk, Mr Farage, the Reform MP for Clacton, said: “A huge investment summit is going on with the Labour Government and businesses from all over the world. But they’re all big corporates.

“They don’t really invite entrepreneurs and the one person they haven’t invited is the world’s most amazing guy Elon Musk.

“Whether it’s buying this platform [X], whether it’s the incredible space missions that he’s going on, whether it’s his cars, whatever it is. If there is anybody who is the world’s greatest entrepreneur, who should have been invited to this summit, it’s Elon Musk.

“But Labour don’t like him. You know why? Because he believes in free speech. Can’t have that now, can we?”

Mr Musk was highly critical of Sir Keir Starmer’s response to the Southport riots, during which he claimed Britain was headed towards civil war.

The entrepreneur also shared, and later deleted, a fake article headline about the UK building “detainment camps” on the Falkland Islands for rioters.

Later, the Prime Minister posted on X: “We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities.”

Mr Musk replied to Sir Keir, saying: “Shouldn’t you be concerned about attacks on *all* communities?”

The Tesla boss continued to appear to attack the Prime Minister online, reposting a video appearing to show police officers arresting a man for making offensive comments on Facebook with the caption: “Arrested for making comments on Facebook! Is this Britain or the Soviet Union?”

Mr Musk then called the Prime Minister #TwoTierKeir in reference to accusations that police were favouring some protesters over others.

After it emerged that Mr Musk was not invited to the Government’s investment summit in September, Mr Musk reignited the row by writing on X: “I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted paedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts.”

The tech billionaire was invited to a previous summit held by Rishi Sunak last November, where he enjoyed a 40-minute one-one-one conversation with the former prime minister.

Rebutting Mr Musk’s claim during a trip to New York to meet US business leaders, Sir Keir said: “What he said is in stark contrast to the very strong view around the breakfast table this morning by investors, nearly all of whom are coming to the investment summit.”
