KUALA LUMPUR: The police will propose to the Magistrate that they conduct a study on the methods used for the disposal of evidence, especially fireworks.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Azmi Abu Kassim said the study must be conducted to ensure a suitable method to dispose of the evidence.
"We will look for better methods to dispose of evidence based on the report by the Fire and Rescue Department.
"It needs to be done as it is not suitable to dispose of certain case items in a certain manner, thus a proper method must be identified," he told a press conference at the KL police headquarters on Wednesday (April 27).
He was commenting on Tuesday's explosion at the Sentul police's evidence storage.
"The disposal method at the Sentul storage followed the instructions issued by the magistrate.
On Tuesday (April 26), three civilian personnel sustained minor injuries following an explosion at the Sentul police's storage.
On a separate matter, Comm Azmi said KL police were ready to deploy during the festive season to ensure the safety of the public.
"Only 10% of the KL police strength are allowed to go on leave this festive season.
"Personnel from the mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit and the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) will step up patrols especially in housing areas," he said.
