       THE fallout from singer Wang Leehom’s divorce is growing bigger with feuding parties issuing statements that are several thousand words long.

       Wang’s father Wang Ta-chung defended his 45-year-old son, insisting that he did not have any affairs throughout his marriage to Lee Jinglei.

       The Taiwanese-American singer confirmed his divorce on Dec 15, saying that the couple had “different plans for the future” as the reason for the divorce.

       On her part, Lee, sent out several posts describing Wang’s infidelities, one of which included a screen shot of a suggestive conversation in 2015 allegedly between her husband and Singaporean singer Yumi from the group By2.

       In the thread, Yumi seemed near-naked in her profile photo.

       Yumi, whose real name is Peh Wei Ling, admitted that she had once been his girlfriend but claimed that she had never intervened in the marriage.

       On Dec 18, Lee wrote a nine-page statement of about 4,500 words, accusing Wang Leehom of various misdeeds throughout their marriage, including multiple affairs, soliciting prostitutes and being verbally abusive towards her.

       China Press reported that the controversy had even impacted ordinary folk like music undergraduate Wu Daquan in China.

       Wu had to scrap his entire dissertation on one of Wang’s works.

       He is scrambling to re-write his entire dissertation which had analysed one of Wang’s songs called Flower Field Mistake.

       Wu said he had chosen the song as a subject of study as he thought it was a perfect example of an amalgamation of a traditional theme song from TV dramas and a pop song.

       He had picked Wang as he was scandal-free then.

       “All is good when everything is quiet. But when a sound is made, it startles everyone,” Wu said, referring to the bombshell about the singer. Wu is now focussing on a song by Coco Lee.
