       A YEAR 6 pupil from SJK (T) Jalan Yahya Awal in Johor Baru has qualified to take part in the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Online Cadets and Youth Rapid World Cup chess competition this year, Makkal Osai reported.

       Subhaashini Siva Prakash, 12, became the only Tamil school pupil to qualify for the FIDE-ranked tournament in the Under-12 category.

       She will be among 28 pupils nationwide to take part in the month-long tournament that runs online from Aug 1, alongside participants from 136 countries.

       Subhaashini has vowed to make her mark in the competition.
