PETALING JAYA: An elderly man died after casting his vote at one of the polling centres in Muar for the state polls on Saturday (March 12).
Astro Awani quoted Muar district police chief ACP Zaharudin Rasip as saying that the 78-year-old victim suddenly collapsed before being confirmed dead.
He said the incident took place at about 11.40am.
“Preliminary investigation by the police found that the victim collapsed and lost consciousness at the scene before his death was confirmed by a medical officer.
"So far, the police have found no criminal elements and the victim has been taken to hospital for further action," he said.
He added that the police are conducting further investigations to identify the cause of the incident.
The case was classified as sudden death.
