Divers collect 12.1 tonnes of rubbish from ocean floors in Sabah

       KOTA KINABALU: Some 12.1 tonnes of rubbish were collected from the seabed at three locations in Sabah - including at Mabul Island off Semporna - known as one of the world’s best diving spots.

       Jetama Sdn Bhd (Jetama) chief executive officer Ahmad Naim Uddang said the four-day Jetama Underwater Cleanup 2024 which ended on Tuesday (Mar 26), also swept the seabed at Kampung Serusup in Tuaran and Sepanggar Island here.

       Some 60 divers, comprising communities at the three locations, local dive operators, dive enthusiasts from the government and private agencies, and the media, took part in the inaugural clean-up programme.
