HEARTTHROB Wang Lee-hom (pic) became a hot topic in Chinese cyberspace following the recent announcement of his divorce, with the tag “Wang Leehom responds” attracting more than 500 million views in less than a day, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Wang, 45, confirmed his divorce on Weibo and Facebook on Dec 15 and cited having “different plans for the future” as the reason for the divorce from Li Jinglei.

Social media users left more than 60,000 comments on the topic, most of which were encouraging words for the Taiwanese-American singer.

Fans also dug up photos of Li and found that she was no longer wearing her wedding ring in a photo uploaded in February this year.

Eagle-eyed fans noted how Li would often show off their wedding ring in photos earlier in the couple’s marriage and that the missing ring should have been a tell-tale sign that the relationship was over.

Speculation that their marriage was on the rocks started in April 2019 when Wang stopped sharing photos of his wife on his social media accounts.

According to Mirror Media, Li was not able to get along with Wang’s mother, who managed his finances prior to his marriage. Li took over the reins when the couple tied the knot.

The singer is said to be worth NT$1bil (RM152mil).

Despite no knowledge of showbiz, Li was also involved in Wang’s career, according to the report.

This caused the singer to part ways with his management team.

Wang blamed himself for the “shortcomings during my marriage these past few years” and requested privacy.

       > A pupil in a primary school in Kuala Sangga, Perak, cut a lonely figure in its 2021 graduation photo as the batch comprised only two pupils, the same daily reported.

Sole Year Six pupil Li Jin An will be graduating from SJK (C) Poay Chee when the school term ends in February next year.

Jin An will be moving to a secondary school after February, while two of the teachers will be sent elsewhere to continue teaching.

With him leaving, SJK (C) Poay Chee will be left with only one pupil, a teacher and a headmaster.

Residents of Kuala Sangga had gradually moved away from the fishing village over the years, leaving fewer pupils enrolling in the school.

Located 15km from Kuala Sepetang, Kuala Sangga is home to a Chinese fishing community, and the village is only accessible by boat.

The school has been around since the 1940s and was categorised as a rural school by the Education Ministry in 2007.
