Boris Johnson spoke to the nation to inform on the latest coronavirus updates while isolating after receiving a ping from the NHS test and trace app. The Prime Minister praised the current uptake in vaccines across the nation and announced that every adult in the country had been offered their first jab. However, he called on the people of Britain to do more and outlined some new changes set to be announced.

Mr Johnson said that entry into venues like clubs and sporting events could see those not double jabbed turned away.

Mr Johnson said: "I would like to remind everybody that some of life's most important pleasures and opportunities are likely to be increasingly dependant on vaccinations.

"There are already countries that require you to be double jabbed as a condition of quarantine-free travel.

"I am afraid that list seems likely to grow.

"We are also concerned about the continuing risk posed by nightclubs.

"I don't want to have to close nightclubs again but it does mean nightclubs need to do the socially responsible thing and make use of the NHS covid pass.

"The pass which shows proof of vaccination, recent negative test or natural immunity as a means of entry."

Mr Johnson reiterated the Government has reserved the right to introduce stricter mandates for the goal of lowering transmission.

He said: "As we said last week, we do reserve the right to mandate certification at any point if it is necessary to reduce transmission.

"I should serve notice now, by the end of September, when all over 18s will have had their chance to be double jabbed, we are planning to make full vaccination the condition of entry to nightclubs and other venues where large clubs gather.

"Proof of a negative test will no longer be enough.

"Let me stress, we want people to take back their freedoms as they can today."
