TWO women were killed at a house as cops arrest a man on suspicion of double murder.

       Staffordshire Police responded to calls at 3pm on New Year's Eve in Park Lane, Cheadle after a body and injured woman were discovered at a property.

       The second victim sadly died a short while later and both were pronounced dead just before 4pm.

       A 68-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder.

       A statement from Staffordshire Police said: "We have arrested a man after the deaths of two women at a house in Cheadle.

       "We were called to Park Lane at 3pm this afternoon (December 31) to reports a woman's body had been found and another woman was injured.

       "Both women were pronounced dead at approximately 3.50pm.

       "A 68-year-old man, from Cheadle, has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of murder."

       Anyone with information or footage from CCTV or doorbells should call the force on 101 and quote incident 340 of December 31.
