ABANG Viva, the man who earned accolades for helping flood victims, is quite worried these days about meeting public expectations.
“If I could turn back time, I don’t want it to be like it is now because the trust and confidence given by the people are too high. I’m afraid I won’t be able to achieve it,” Harian Metro quoted him as saying.
Abang Viva, whose real name is Azwan Omar, captured public imagination when he drove a Perodua Viva with his boat on top of it to rescue flood victims.
He said he was not seeking any attention when he spent 10 days helping flood victims in Selangor and Pahang.
In fact, the decision to help the people was made spontaneously, said Azwan, 29, who lives in Melaka.
“When I read about people being stranded, it struck me. Why was I not helping them when I own a boat?”
“My initial plan was to be in Puchong for only a day. However, when I saw how bad the situation was, I changed my mind and continued the rescue mission,” he said.
He played down his role in the rescue work, saying that many other people had done so much more.
> The wife of cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman, who tested positive for Covid-19, has also been infected, Kosmo! reported.
Datin Seri Nur Shahida Mohd Rashid shared the news on her Instagram account on Thursday.
“Just got the results. I have tested positive.
“Alhamdulillah, my children are all healthy. Pray for my speedy recovery,” she said.
