The Royal Family has once again found itself under fire after a document showed extensive use of the n-word, with dozens of references made to the offensive term.

A catalogue published by the Royal Collection Trust (RCT), which showcased a selection of jewels owned by the Royal Collection, contained more than 40 uses of offensive racial terms.

The document, which is titled Ancient and Modern Gems and Jewels, was published by Royal Collection Enterprises Limited back in 2008.

It was removed on Thursday after having remained on the website since it was first published.

In the investigation, which was launched by the Independent, racial slurs were found when describing artefacts.

It showed that the offensive terms had been used to describe people of African descent who appear on the jewels and gems.

In the catalogue, one brooch's description read: "Head of a n***o in three-quarter profile to the right, with a drop-pearl earring.

"This type of a n***o’s head is found on several sixteenth-century cameos."

Another item showed a white person who, according to the report, posed features which were "not n*****d".

The revelation comes after a racial slur was found in Government documents.

After having been visible on the Government's own website since 2015, the term was also found in a report made by the Met Office and in work used by the Department for Work and Pensions guidance.

This isn't the first time that the Royal Family have faced controversy over racial issues.

Last year, Ngozi Fulani, founder of the charity Sistah Space, claimed that she was asked by Lady Susan Hussey - the late Queen's lady-in-waiting - where she "really came" from during a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Pan-Afrikanist Esther Stanford-Xosei, who works as an expert on reparations with the International Social Movement for Afrikan Reparations, claimed that the catalogue should have condemned the harmful use of such terms.

They said: "We are in an era where it is well recognised that these terms are offensive and legally considered to be racial slurs.

"One would expect institutions that have historical connections to African enslavement to have some type of guidance given around the language that is currently being used in this document.

"That the document uses colonial, racist, Afriphobic language, which denies the humanity, personhood and dignity of African people and their descendants, is a real cause for concern and totally unjustifiable."
