ALOR SETAR: A morning of fishing turned fatal for a 26-year-old man who drowned in a drain near his house.
The incident that occurred in Kampung Banggul in Pokok Sena, Kedah was called in by the public who said a man had fallen into a drain while fishing.
Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said police found the victim's body at the scene with the aid of the Fire and Rescue Department.
"The victim was found in the drain. He is believed to have fallen in and drowned while fishing near his house.
"The victim went out to fish at 8am at that particular drain," he said in a statement on Monday (May 9).
"Further examination of the victim's body found no injuries that could be attributed to foul play," he said.
ACP Ahmad Shukri said the deceased was in the Army and based in Kuching.
He said the body was sent to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Kedah for post-mortem.
