KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect who allegedly killed a DBKL subcontractor in an accident has been charged for drink driving.
City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh, in a statement on Friday (March 18), said Lo Yen Hue, 24, was charged under Section 44 (1)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“He was charged at the Jalan Duta Traffic Court for driving over the alcohol limit and causing death. The accused pleaded not guilty and has claimed trial.
“Bail of RM12,000 has been granted,” he said.
Police had said earlier that on March 12, Lo was driving his car along Jalan Kuching at 3.15am.
He then changed lanes but crashed into road cones, a lorry and the 74-year-old DBKL subcontractor who was working on the road divider.
The crash killed the subcontractor.
Following the collision, Lo reportedly tried to flee but was caught by members of the public, according to police.
