3 repeat offenders among 41 motorists to be charged with drink driving

       SINGAPORE - Forty-one motorists, aged between 24 and 58, will be charged with drink driving on Oct 24 for offences committed between March and October, 2024, the police said.

       Three of them are repeat offenders. If found guilty, they will be jailed.

       A 29-year-old man faces an additional charge of causing inconvenience after stopping his car at the road shoulder of the CTE, obstructing other motorists.

       Investigations revealed that he had driven his car after allegedly drinking alcohol, and subsequently fallen asleep at the wheel.

       If found guilty of this charge, he may be fined up to $2,000, jailed for up to three months, or both.

       The offence of drink driving carries a fine of between $2,000 and $10,000 or jail time of up to 12 months, or both.

       Repeat drink drivers may be fined between $5,000 and $10,000 and jailed for up to two years.

       Recalcitrants may also face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
