KUALA LUMPUR: The number of daily Covid-19 cases dropped below the 15,000 mark on Monday, with 13,336 cases recorded, bringing the cumulative number of cases in Malaysia to 4,152,203.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 13,225 (or 99.17%) of the new cases were in Categories One and Two, while 111 cases (or 0.83%) were in Categories Three, Four and Five.
“A total of 43 cases or 0.32% were in Category Three, 32 cases (0.24%) in Category Four and 36 cases (0.27%) in Category Five,” he said.
There were 25,522 recoveries on Monday, nearly double the number of new cases recorded on the same day.
Dr Noor Hisham said two states registered a critical or intensive care unit (ICU) bed occupancy of over 50% with Selangor at 55% and Johor at 52%.
Four states recorded over 50% usage of non-ICU beds with Putrajaya at 87%, Selangor at 68%, Kuala Lumpur at 53% and Melaka at 51%.
Dr Noor Hisham added that the national Covid infectivity rate or Rt value was 0.92, with Selangor recording the highest value at 1.08 and Sabah the lowest at 0.65.
