MELAKA: A three-day surveillance at jetties and fishing villages here led to detention of 128 individuals, including a 69-year-old grandfather and six women for substance abuse.
Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainol Samah said the operation under "Ops Tapis Khas" saw the raids being conducted at drug dens along the coastal areas here.
"The operation was meant to eradicate the drug abuse at fishing villages here," he said on Friday (April 22).
DCP Zainol said various types of substance were also seized during the operation.
He said similar operations would be continued on a frequent basis to ensure these fishing villages were free from drug addiction and trafficking.
"We also welcome information from villagers on drug related activities in their respective areas," he added.
