King of Mandopop Jay Chou (pic) was recently crowned the top earner among Chinese artistes, having grossed an income of 2.15bil yuan (RM1.3bil) in the past four years, reports Sin Chew Daily.

According to estimates by Chinese media, the 42-year-old earned an average of 500mil yuan (RM324mil) each year between 2017 and 2020 from concert tickets, TV contracts, and celebrity endorsements.

It was reported that in 2020, Chou’s livestream of himself performing magic for 30 minutes earned him 20mil yuan (RM12.93mil) worth of rewards from fans in just half an hour.

His ability to rake in the cash has earned him the moniker “Golden Holy Hands” within the entertainment industry.

As for female artistes, Chinese actor Zhou Xun earned the top spot, raking in 1.67bil yuan (RM1.07bil) in just four years.

The 46-year-old was reported to have earned 95mil yuan (RM61.43mil) for starring in the 2018 Chinese TV series Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace.

Other notable mentions include actor Andy Lau (ranked sixth), singer Gloria Tang (ranked 14th), Eason Chan (ranked 21st) and Louis Koo (ranked 29th).

The incident happened during one of the Euro 2020 football matches last week when the programmer was enjoying the match with his friends at a pub.

However, he received an urgent phone call from his supervisor to start fixing some code.

He immediately went out of the pub, sat on the pavement and pulled out his laptop to start his work.

However, he was so overwhelmed by the task that he began crying.

According to staff at the pub, a man wearing a yellow uniform from a local food delivery company noticed the programmer crying and started consoling him.

The delivery rider then sat down, took over the programmer’s laptop and began debugging his code.

When CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, Internet users were amazed at the delivery rider’s skills, with many saying that he was overqualified for his current job.

“It seems like you can’t even be a food delivery rider if you can’t code, ” one Internet user quipped.
