KUALA LUMPUR: The Keluarga Malaysia travel pass will boost public transportation usage and also spur economic activity along bus and train networks, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

       The Transport Minister said the travel pass initiative, which allowed a group of four in a family to enjoy unlimited bus and train rides for RM15, would encourage families to come out and travel using public transport.

       "I'm pleased to join Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on a walkabout today to ride the LRT from Bangsar to KL Sentral station and attend the official launch of the Keluarga Malaysia travel pass.

       "This pass is for a group of up to four people to enjoy unlimited rides for one day on LRT, MRT, Monorail, and BRT under RapidKL during weekends and public holidays for just RM15.

       "This great new package launched by our PM today will allow each person to enjoy a whole day of rides for just RM3.75, from Dec 1 onwards.

       "We hope that this would encourage more people to use public transport and spur economic activity again along the public transport networks in KL and Selangor," he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Nov 22).

       The Keluarga Malaysia travel pass was launched by Ismail Sabri at KL Sentral earlier on Monday (Nov 22).

       Besides Dr Wee, also present at the launch were Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim.

       Meanwhile, Dr Wee said Prasarana's subsidiary Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE) would offer "Transit Packages for SME Enterprises" next year.

       "This package features business lots in a few stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT line with incentives such as rental discounts.

       "More details will be announced soon by PRIDE.

       "Our deepest gratitude and appreciation to the prime minister for launching these initiatives under the Keluarga Malaysia banner today," added Dr Wee.
