PETALING JAYA: A cafe worker who refused to complete his vaccination dose was caught with an edited digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate.

The fraud, however, was uncovered by the cafe owner when the worker contracted Covid-19.

“All of our employees were supposed to submit their MySejahtera digital certificate to human resource. At first, we didn’t notice any difference until recently when he was infected with Covid-19

“A few of our employees contracted Covid-19 on the same day as him, too, but his quarantine period was 10 days compared to the rest who had only seven days,” said the cafe owner.

The owner then decided to review the worker’s digital certificate and that was when he noticed that the name had been edited.

“I saw a different shade of blue on the name part, that’s when I realised that he submitted a fake digital certificate.

“He admitted when asked,” said the owner who runs his cafe in Selangor.

The owner was disappointed by the worker who failed to come clean.

He claimed that the worker, too, had failed to comply with some of the standard operating procedures such as wearing a mask while at work.

“I had to close my cafe for five days, I lost about RM10,000 and all my staff had to be tested.

“The worker admitted his mistake, apologised and he voluntarily resigned,” the owner said.
