KUALA LUMPUR: Amid the traffic congestion and shortage of parking space at crowded areas as people shop for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, it is the ehailing drivers whose services are much needed during this period.
One of them, Romy Irwan Shah, said his income had gone up. Previously, the 42-year-old earned up to RM1,200 per week. But this festive season, the amount has gone up to over RM1,500 per week.
“Some shoppers prefer to use our services as they don’t have to think about finding a parking space for their vehicles.
“Also, they don’t have to rush home as the ehailing service is available round the clock,” he told Bernama.
Another ehailing driver, Suhaimi Sulaiman, 41, expected the number of customers to keep rising until the last week of Ramadan.
He said some people may even be willing to use the ehailing service to return to their hometown for Hari Raya.
Kindergarten teacher Nornabila Abdullah, 23, said using the ehailing service was more practical than driving her car to go shopping.
“It is tiring to drive in heavy traffic and find a parking space in crowded areas,” she added.
