“So many people have contacted me and said that Katya had inspired them and told me how creative and kind she was.”

Galia says her daughter went into cardiac arrest at the festival, but that she is waiting to find out further information from the police.

Katya had been born in Kazakhstan before studying at Edinburgh University and Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver.

Her father is authour Alexander Kan, who fled to Kazakhstan from North Korea in the 1960s.

Katya had attended the festival with her friend Eva Ciocyte.

She said: “She just became listless and wasn't dancing around anymore.

“I can't take it in at all.”

Paying tribute, another pal said: "Like the spirit of the rabbit that you embodied through your performances and artwork you had so much energy and you would always be hopping from one project to another.

"You were a beautiful powerhouse of creativity in multiple disciplines and you brought so many creatives together."

She added: "You were gone too soon, I wish you had more time to go on creating, your loss has left a large hole in the creative community and I wish we'd had more moments to meet partying or performing but I am truly grateful for the times we have shared and the people you have brought into my life."

Leicestershire Police say it is investigating the death of a woman who “may have taken an unknown substance which could have led to her becoming unwell”.
